Dedication booklet 1796

310399 Dedication booklet for a marriage: 1 leaf, frontispiece, title & 2 pp. with a poem of 12 verses between head- & tail-vignette in woodcut. The dedication by F.K.K. is printed on the title page: To his uncle, the merchant G.L. Kuhn, on the occasion of his marriage with Miss Krüger. Berlin, June 26, 1796. Printed by Wegener Brothers. Stiff boards decorated with gilt fillets & medallions. Gilt edge. Type, woodcut & gouache. 173x110 mm. 1796.
The frontispiece on stronger cardboard is signed by said F.K.K., namely „F.C. Krüger del“. It depicts the hymen in gouache. F. Conrad Krüger, draftsman and engraver in Berlin, son of Johann Conrad, student of the Berlin Academy where he exhibited stipple engravings, etchings and drawings in 1786/1802 [...] (Thieme/Becker). Our booklet represents a sophisticated and certainly costly testimony of the bourgeois occasional prints. In its aspirations, it corresponds to the princely festive books.
Very good conservation.
