Running man and walking horse

310175 Maker: Camille Burckardt’s successors, Weissenburg (Alsace). Decomposition of the gait of a running man and a walking horse with rider. The sheet was probably intended to be cut into a template for a Zoeptro (Wheel of life). Stencil-colored lithography. 384x491 mm. Backs: Plain. Circa 1900.
The company was extant under the name of „Druck u. Verlag v. C. Burckardt’s Nachf., Weissenburg (Elsass)“, i.e. Printed and published by C. Burckardt’s succ., Weissenburg (Alsace), from 1889 till 1906. C. Burckardt had taken over Wentzel’s factory in 1880 and run it until his death at the end of 1888.
3 small marginal tears and a faint folding mark in the top white margin, very good conservation.
