Declaration of love to Gertrude Bachman

Double sheet with scalloped border. The 1st page bears a small poem, half hidden by that first volume of the Art of Love (probably meant is Ovid’s Ars Amatoria), which folds back. Framing the whole is a layer of embossed die cut lace, made of white coated & gilt paper, & adorned with small pieces of red silk ribbons. The original envelope, with blind-tooled floral ornaments at the front, is joined.
